Do I have stomach cancer.

September 3rd, 2010    Posted by:

I’m getting really worried now since I have a few of the symptoms of stomach (gastric) cancer. The symptoms I am feeling are:

Persistent stomach pain / upper abdominal discomfort
Flu-like sickness
Blood when passing a stool (pooing)
Loss of appetite
Indigestion

What other diseases or sicknesses may be causing these symptoms. I’m really, really scared.

I have heard that those are some of the exact symptoms. You probably have it. You should go to a doctor imedietly. If they don’t get it in time, you could die. D:

There are several possible explanations for the symptoms you have and given your age cancer is the least likely (a glance at your Q&A shows you’re young, probably a teenager).

Like most types of cancer, stomach cancer is more common in older people - most people diagnosed with cancer are over 60.

95% of those diagnosed with stomach cancer are 50or over.

The chances of stomach cancer in someone your age are close to zero.

James, if you eat something bad the symptoms with be the same. The ONLY way for you to get a diagnosis of stomach cabcer is for you surgeon to take a piece of the tiisse and exmine it for tumor or cancer reactions. I know it’s scary to wait for that answer, but you will be happy to know most of the time it turns out to be something minor. James, you need to be examined and tested byt a good family doctor first. If your family doc decides you should see a psecialist, you will be sent to an oncolocgist, a doctor specailizing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Hope this help and best of luck to you. If you need a friend to write back and forth, I’ll keep in touch. I have stage 2 lymphoma.

Red blood when passing a stool indicates LOWER digestive tract disease, or perhaps something as simple as heammharoids.
Black blood in stool perhaps coupled with anaemia and rapid pulse can indicate UPPER GI bleeding from a ulcer. If this is what you have noticed then see your doctor this week and in the meantime get some Gaviscon (or other indigestion remedy with an alginate in it) to help reline a sore stomach.
There is a high probability that you are just suffering from Gastritis and have too heavy a load of H. pylori bacteria.

If the condition does not improve then refer back to your doctor for further tests.
