Antacid Question. Please help.

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

People take antacids to buffer their stomach acid when they produce too much gastric enzymes. If a person took antacids and changed the pH of his/her stomach to 4, does it change the place of absorption for aspirin. (justify your answer by showing calculations for both stomach and intestines).

gall bladder removal is safe way for acidity control.

my mother is suffering sever acidity from last 7 years she even can’t take water .when she take water acid(gastric juice) comes out by vomiting and it makes wound in mouth or all mucus membrane is damage so for that what can we do .

101= The following acid solutions were titrated to the equivalence point with the base listed.

Use the titration data to calculate the molarity of each acid solution.
Please explain so I can also learn. Thank you.

A= 25.00 mL of HI solution required 27.15mL of a 0.250 M NaOH solution.
B= 20.00 mL of H2SO4 solution required 11.12 mL of a 0.109 M KOH solution
C= 25.00 mL of gastric juice (HCl) required 18.40mL of a 0.0250 M NaOH solution.

study guide. Just some questions i would like to know. I did most of them. I’m just unsure.

how can rantidine hydro-chloride be used in treatment of peptic ulcer.

Friday, August 5th, 2011

I found a medicine its active constituent is rantidine HCl and its used for peptic & duodenal ulcer, if there’s an ulcer it’s usually as a result of high acidity of the gastric juice so how can we use HCl which is a strong acid.

Gastric Bypass Surgery.

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

I weight 210 lbs and I diabetes, high cholesterol and extreme acid reflux & my BMI is 36.0, is it possible for me to have gastric bypass. I’ve only lost 14 lbs in a year with diet and exercise. I want to start going to meetings, i just don’t want to go and have the dr tell me your not a candidate. ( and no dumb answers that says eat more so you can be candidate).

biology homework, help.

digestive juices are produced in several parts of the digestive system. ____ is produced by the salivary glands in the mouth. the ____ produces gastric juice which contains ____ and the enzyme pepsin.

____ digests fat to give fatty acids and glycerol. protease enzymes cut up protein molecules. an example is ____ which digests protein into short lengths of amino acida called peptides.

thankyou so much.

What is the correct answer to the following.

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

Enzyme X exhibits maximum activity at pH = 6.9. Activity decreases sharply when the pH goes much lower than 6.4. One likely interpretation of this pH activity is that:
i)A protonated HIS is required for activity

ii) A deprotonated HIS is required for activity.

iii) A glutamic acid is involved in catalysis

iv) the enzyme has a metallic cofactor.

v) the enzyme is found in gastric secretions.

Why do patients with prolonged inflammation of the stomach lining also exhibit signs of anemia.

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

Prolonged inflammation of the stomach lining can lead to severe atrophy and loss of function of the gastric glands. Patients with this condition also exhibit signs of anemia because:

A. inability of the stomach mucosal cells to absorb iron
B. the pepsin secreted by the gastric mucosa is crucial for hemoglobin synthesis
C. the acid pH of the stomach increases erythrocyte death and removal
D. some gastric mucosal cells make and secrete the intrinsic factors

I’m not sure but I think the answer may be D.

Why can’t a sea turtle digest plastic bags.

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

Sea turtles often think plastic bags are jellyfish and eat them, which the stomach can’t digest well. Is this because the turtles stomach acids aren’t strong enough to actually break down the plastic bag. What is different about a sea turtles gastric acids, from human gastric acids.
