Was just reading an article that said that the top surgeries performed in the USA this past year were these two.
Do we really, as a society, need this.
Do you think it works.
Do you think it’s safe.
Do you think insurance companies should pay for this, or the individual.
Do you think perhaps that people view this as the easy way out.
Is this surgery “fix” becoming so much the extended weight loss thing. Eat all you want, get really overweight and then take the magic “fix” method. Make it all go away in one magic day or two of surgery.
I knew a woman that died from complications of gastric bypass. It’s serious stuff. Yet, the people I know who have had this seem to treat it so casually. Yes, they have lost weight and they seem happy, but. It’s so common now.
What happened to watching what you eat and exercise. If these surgeries are more common now than any other performed, what has happened to our society.
Yet, I have a cousin who is vastly overweight and she doesn’t seem to care. Her entire life revolves around eating. I wonder if she has a mental disorder where the trigger to stop eating just isn’t operational in her brain. Would this kind of surgery truly help a person who can’t control their mind.
I watch and I learn. I am not trying to judge people here. Just wondering what people think and due to the anonymous nature of Y.A., I can get a taste (no pun intended) of what y’all have thought about.
What do you know about those who have had this done. Good. Bad. Changes. Did you view them as taking the lazy or easy way out. Did you view them as taking a last ditch effort and if they did not, their obesity would ultimately kill them. I take it there are some cases like this, but I wonder if there are more who are using this as they have lost self control.
