Hey guys, well i need help finding help for my mom, shes a alcoholic and i don’t know who to turn to anymore.

Saturday, December 25th, 2010

well about 10 years back my mom had (if i’am correct) a gastro bypass which reduced the size of her stomach to the size of maybe a thumb or a bit bigger, not a 100% sure. Well she sneaks alcohol around when my step dads at work and i am the only here to watch her and make sure she doesn’t consume alcohol. I need some type of definite help that can take her addiction away. I am 18 and about to start college and i want her to be okay by that time so i know she wont drink when shes alone. She says she drinks so she can pass the time away and sleep during the day but I’ve tried recommending her to look for a hobby, a job, and etc. But i don’t know what to do or who to turn to anymore and i don’t want to abandon her. If anyone else has had this problem and was able to help please give me advice.

I am 5′ 2″ and I weigh 124 pounds. I used to weigh 310 pounds. I lost 186 pounds on my own when I was 25. No gastro-bypass or lap band. I did it the good ol fashion way. Walking 2 hours a day and ate fruits and veggies, no meat for 2 years. Anyways, years later, I got a tummy tuck and breast implants after I lost my weight. I am remarried and I will never tell my new husband or new co-workers (I live in a different town now). He thinks I am so beautiful and whenever he sees a big person he has said “how can anyone allow themselves to get that big.” I tell him “hey, it can happen to anyone, the skin can really stretch.”

P.S. He knows I got a tummy tuck and breast implants. I told him that.

I once started to tell him I was overweight and all he says is “yeah right. Whatever.” That’s why I wont even dare try to ever tell him again and take it to my grave. My breast implants are saline and look very natural. The scar on my tummy is over my c-section many years ago. He knows about that.
Luke, I didn’t even eat chicken. I ate fruit and salads, rice and got my proteins from beans and nuts. I eat everything now but I eat moderately. I do eat meat, but mostly chicken and very little red meat.
In love with Toddler, get your skivvies out of a knot. Live a little, I am sure you have a few skeletons in your closet.

Has anyone had hairloss associated with Gastro bypass surgery or rx waterpills.

A bit confused about portal and systemic venous systems.

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

With regard to varicies related to portal hypertension:

When pressure gradient across liver is too high, portal venous blood preferrentially take alternate rout ie. systemic venous system. This leads to engorgement of capillary network around classical locations such as gastro-oesophageal junction, rectum, umbilical vein and less commonly readily detectable clinically retroperitoneal.

Question 1:
Am I right to say these locations have capillaries that can drain into both portal venous system as well as systemic venous system, kind of like anatamosis of capillaries from both systems. Back pressure therefore forces flow to systemic venous system.

Questions 2:
What if I apply some medicine to my skin. That medicine is absorbed, goes into blood, takes systemic venous system, bypasses liver and goes back to the heart. Comes out again, goes back again without going through liver. How is that medicine ever going to be broken down by liver enzymes.

is there a way to eat whatever you want and still.

Bariatric Surgery heaven or hell.

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Recent bariatric patients are all optimistic but after the “honeymoon” period reality sets in.”The negatives are much harder to find than the positives. Especially when I had my surgery back in 2001. I couldn’t find anyone who would say anything negative.

I know why though now. Because we are embarrassed and ashamed to tell people the negatives. We are embarrassed of our failures.afterall, we’ve failed all our life and now we’ve failed again. It sucks.

I was happy losing 163 lbs after my surgery. I dealt with the pain, the learning how to eat again, how to drink again. Now, 141 lbs heavier. I can tell you - for the first time - I will say I regret it.

Not only have I gained my weight back - my life is different now. I was a healthy fat person. Now I’m a fat person who is anemic, calcium deficient, lactose intolerant, tired all the time, my memory is bad, I throw-up more often than I’d like, my gastro-intestinal track is unpredictable and my stools are most often runny and urgent. shall I go on. There’s nothing positive left about the surgery. In fact, it’s my “Secret Shame”. I used to want everyone to know - now I hope no one finds out. I can’t eat much - at least of the good for me foods. I can however pound away crackers and chips - they go down easily.

My biggest fear. How many years of my life did I steal from my 9 year old son and my husband.

Anyway - I hope someone reads this and thinks a little harder about their decision to have any type of gastric bypass surgery. “

After Gastro-Bypass (Bariatric Surgery).

I want gastro bypass but cant afford it and want to do the diet.

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

I am very overweight and I just keep getting bigger. Unlike cigerettes you cant just quit eating. I wish I could have surgery but have no insurance and no $$$ for it. But anyhow the surgery is dangerous with a lot of risks andall it is really, is a forced diet. I want to try just eating the way a gastric bypass patient would eat. I am trying to find out their exact diet. I believe I read for the first at least 1 year they can only consume 1/4 cup at a time, but how many times a day do they eat. Then I also read that after that they can start eating 1/2 cup at a time but again how many times. Yes I know this might sound like a crazy diet but I also think extreme situations call for extreme measures, and I am dangerously overweight. I think I am even going to start carrying a container that is either 1′4 or that has measurments in it, I am also going to take a multi vitamin while I do this and drink at least 6 8oz glasses of water a day. I cant stick to traditional diets BECUASE I quit every time becuase I dont see results and I think for once this diet might work for me because I would see results very fast. And the more and faster I see results the more determined I will become in sticking with it. I am alos with this going to be very careful about what types of food I take in and really try to make what I eat be good foods. I know many may think this dangerous but it is certainly less dangerous then having the surgery. So PLEASE dont judge me but just let me know all you can about the diet of gastro bypass patients.
